Cinema is one of the most pervasive art forms today and to a very large extent has influenced several generations. Countries, such as France, have complained about the artistic imperialism of America because American films have global reach. Hollywood is the virtual centre of the film industry and what Hollywood produces influences the culture and mood of other countries artistically and dramatically. Cinema will continue to exert its undue influence on the young although not to the same extent as before because of the advent of the Internet which has provided an alternative form of entertainment. Cinema has shaped our lives since its birth just a few decades ago. This art form includes films in movie theatres and television and has undergone many forms of storage and transmission such as VHS, DVD and video streaming.
