Institutes
An institute for the performing arts is a school that offers training in various art forms such as acting, dancing, singing, arts management and technical theatre. Some institutes are offering full-time college degree courses and some even offer masteral degrees. All these Master of Arts degree (postgraduate) are designed to equip its graduates with the complete theoretical training in the performing arts. What is very interesting is that some institutes also offer classes for children as young as 4 or 5 years old. Institutes offer people interested in the arts the chance to become theatre directors or stage designers or part of the backstage crew. A few national institutes of the performing arts in some countries have been put up specifically to preserve some of the country’s traditional forms of dance, music and theatre before modern influences will stamp it out.
