Medicine
There is a branch of medicine that is dedicated to the health of performing artists such as ballet dancers, singers, gymnasts and acrobats. These specialised doctors try to use their knowledge in medicine to prevent injuries and promote the long-term health of artists. For example, a musician may suffer from joint pains and prevent him from strumming his guitar. In such cases, performing arts medicine can come to his aid. The more common injuries are those involving acrobats and gymnasts who perform high-wire acts and suffer from accidental falls. Singers who always perform or sing very loud music are also prone to injuries of their voice box. Dancers also suffer from common injuries due to long hours of practice such as painful joints and feet or toes. Ballet dances are especially prone to knee and joint injuries.
