Mime

This is one of the most ancient theatre forms. Mime does not require talking from the performer but instead requires him to use facial expressions, gestures, and body language to convey the message. It appears simple to do to the uninitiated but mime actually needs a lot of practice and skill to make it realistic to the audience. Mime can be used to convey many forms of emotions, reactions, attitudes and feelings. It had been used since early times in most religious rituals and initiation rites for secret societies and even in royal ceremonies. It is used today in various fields such as street theatre and even classical ballet. Perhaps the great Charlie Chaplin is the most famous mime artist of all time during the era of “silent movies”.
