Music is very hard to define precisely because it means many things to different people and societies. But generally, it is agreed that music is a distinct art form that uses sound as the medium to deliver a message. Music therefore is the art of arranging sounds over time to produce a continuously unified and evocative auditory composition to become a melody that possesses harmony, timbre and rhythm. Because of imprecise definitions which also change over time, some people classify any sound as music while others may point out discordant or irritating sound as mere noise. Tones arranged horizontally are known as melodies while tones arranged vertically become harmonies. Music is a way of life for most people and is closely linked to their religion and culture. The creation and performance of music is considered as one of the highest performance art forms.
