Performers

The artists in performance arts are the performers who strut their actions in front of an audience and challenge them to think of art differently. Performance art is not the same as the performing arts. The former is unconventional while the latter is traditional. Performance art is improvisation at its best and is usually unscripted too. It is done in front of an audience and at other times, even the audience gets to participate in it which becomes “happenings”. A few “pure” artists prefer to term performance art as “live art” or “action art” since it is the performer who is the actual artist and not some professional character actor doing the art.
