Printmaking

Printmaking is the process of generating artworks by printing, with the use of paper. Monotyping is an exception. The process of printmaking produces multiples of the same pieces called prints. The pieces are not really replica copies but are original prints. Painting or drawing does create unique piece of artwork. The prints are created from a single original surface, technically known as a matrix. The common types are plates of metal, stone, blocks of wood, linoleum and fabric plates. Prints are also published in the form of a book. One print could be the product a single or several techniques.
