Publications

Several publications that emerged during the 1970s and the 1980s contributed greatly to the acceptance of performance arts as legitimate art. These publications helped develop and expand performance art as an artistic medium as well as a valid form of entertainment. Before, performance art was considered on the extreme fringes of the art world and is best left to their own practitioners. Today, audiences anticipate a performance art just like any art event. Since it is the performer, that is, the artist and his performance is the art, the artistic performances make use of the artist’s body to a very large extent as a form of expression.
