Stagecraft

Stagecraft is defined either as skill in writing stage plays or the skill in employing the various props, devices and sets on a stage or theatre. So stagecraft refers to the writing skills of the person writing the play. On the other hand, the other meaning refers to the technical aspects of theatrical production like construction of stage scenery, procurement of costumes, the proper placement of lighting, and recording of sound effects. It is not artistic in a sense but technical as it attempts to carry out the vision of the artistic director. Stagecraft can be done by one person alone if it is a small production but bigger ones need a technical director.
