Street Performance
The most common form of street performance is street magic that draws passersby to watch a magician do some tricks. Street performances are a varied lot that ranges from mime to clowning to contortions to sword swallowing. The challenge of street performers is their ability to hold the rapt attention of a passing crowd that is in a hurry to go somewhere else, such people going to work or to go grocery shopping. While most street performers do not ask for money and perform free just for the sheer pleasure of letting people witness their acts, some do ask for tips and gratuities after their performance. Some do it just for the love of their art or to try something new in front of a live audience.
