Theater
It is broadly defined as theatre when a person presents himself to perform something in front of other people or an audience. Theatre is actually storytelling in another form with elements of speech, gestures, music, dance and spectacle added as visual art. Early theatrical events were staged in ancient Egypt usually with religious themes but the Greeks developed it into a distinct art form such as dramas based on tragedy, comedy and satire-based themes. The passion plays of ancient Egypt and early Greek drama further developed into the Roman theatre which grew into Western theatre. Eastern theatres were Sanskrit productions of Hindu beliefs while Chinese theatre also featured entertainment known as “Chinese operaâ€. In the Arab world during medieval Islamic times, puppetry was extremely popular which included hand puppets, shadow plays and marionette theatre where puppets are manipulated using strings.
